Beautiful, thought-provoking interview films
Interview clip with Caryl, who is facing the end of her life.
Gone West films reflect my personal and professional dedication to well-crafted, beautifully shot, and thought-provoking documentary-style interviews.
These films provide:
A record of a person’s voice, face, and presence
Meaningful stories and life lessons in their own words
A heartfelt gift for children, grandchildren, or loved ones
A timeless reminder that lives on long after we’re gone
The Process
After an initial exploratory phone call and determining together the scope of the film, we decide on the best date/time for the shoot/s. Then, I will provide some prep for the shoot and interview via email. Each film includes:
A small crew of two (director and cameraperson) comes to your home or another meaningful space.
We set up one professional 4K camera, simple lighting, and a wireless mic to ensure high-quality sound and video.
The interview will last 60-90+ minutes and is guided by thoughtful, contemplative questions.
The footage is then gently edited into clear, watchable sections (for example: childhood, values, turning points, advice to family).
You’ll receive a final digital file and a travel-sized USB drive, ready to be kept, shared, or archived.
Adding on more interviews and/or documentary footage
In addition to the signature interview film, Gone West offers the opportunity to capture much more, such as interviews with other family members or couples, or documentary footage of your family going about their daily lives— cooking dinner together, reading books, playing a game, celebrating an occasion, or engaging in another activity. We offer multi-tiered packages starting with the signature interview film and expanding to a fully edited film with music, titles, and your own photos/home video clips incorporated.
Why Hire Us?
Anyone can pick up a phone and record a conversation with a loved one— and we encourage you to do that, too. But there’s a difference between a casual recording and a thoughtfully crafted film.
When you hire Gone West, you get:
A safe and guided conversation – With years of experience interviewing at life’s most tender moments, we ask meaningful questions that invite authentic stories to surface.
A legacy worth keeping – Professionally filmed and edited, the final piece is something you’ll want to watch, share, and pass down for generations.
Compassionate support – Our background in contemplative care and end-of-life support means we bring sensitivity, patience, and deep respect to the process.
The result is more than just a recording. It’s a cinematic, lasting tribute— crafted with care, so your loved one’s voice and presence live on.
FILM PACKAGES
Interview Films make meaningful gifts.
Flowers fade. Objects get tucked away. But a film of someone’s voice, laughter, and stories is a gift that grows more valuable with time.
An Interview Film is:
Personal – A one-of-a-kind tribute that no store-bought gift could ever match.
Meaningful – It captures the essence of a person—their humor, wisdom, quirks, and love— in their own words.
Lasting – Long after birthdays, anniversaries, or holidays have passed, the film remains a treasure to revisit and share.
For everyone – Whether given to children, grandchildren, or close friends, it’s a gift that touches hearts across generations.
More than a present, it’s a legacy. A reminder of what truly matters.
